This is the kitten version of Wee Kitty's corn litter - the same plant base, ground to a softer, finer grain that a kitten's paws will accept and that will not hurt if a curious kitten tastes it.
Kittens learn the tray by feel. A coarse or dusty litter is the most common reason a kitten decides the laundry floor is nicer, so it is worth starting on something soft and switching to the adult formula later rather than the other way around.
Being finer, it tracks more than the standard corn litter. A mat under the tray solves most of that.
