Oaten hay, compressed into a carry bag with a handle so it stores upright in a cupboard rather than shedding across the laundry floor. Hay is not a supplement for rabbits and guinea pigs — it is the bulk of the diet, and it should be in front of them constantly.
Oaten is the softer, sweeter of the common hays and the easier sell to a fussy animal or a young one. It runs higher in sugar than lucerne-free grass hays, so for a rabbit already carrying weight it is better used as the palatable part of a mix than as the whole ration.
The long stem length is the part that matters. Chewing coarse hay is what wears down continuously growing teeth and what keeps the gut moving, and neither pellets nor chopped hay does that job.
Features
- Carry bag — handled bag that stores and stacks without spilling
- Long stem — the chew length that actually wears teeth
- Doubles as bedding — clean and soft enough to line a hutch
- Suits rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and other small herbivores
Feeding Guide
Offer unlimited hay alongside fresh greens and a measured portion of pellets. Refill the rack daily rather than topping it up — animals sort through and leave the stems they have already rejected.
Care
Store somewhere dry and airy. Hay that has been kept damp grows mould, and mouldy hay is genuinely dangerous — discard the whole bag rather than picking through it.
Also available as Pet Hay in a carry bag.
