Veggie Patch Edible Log Home for Small Animals

A hollow log a small animal can hide inside and eat at the same time, which is the whole idea — most hideaways get chewed anyway, so this one is built to be. Two sizes: 100g suits mice and rats, 200g gives a bit more room.

The honest limitation is that it is consumable. A hideaway that gets eaten is a hideaway you will replace, and an animal that treats it as food rather than shelter will get through it in days. If you want a permanent hide, this is not it — but as enrichment that also gives a nervous animal somewhere to retreat to, it does both jobs at once.

What it is made of

Compressed timber fibre and shavings, bound with natural sugars, in the same edible family as the rest of the Veggie Patch chews.

Feeding

Enrichment rather than a meal. Grass hay stays the diet, and fresh water should always be available. Supervise the first session so you know whether your animal treats it as a house or as dinner.
