A glass bottle with a stainless steel drinking tube, which solves the two things that go wrong with plastic ones: rabbits and ferrets chew through plastic, and plastic clouds up until you cannot see the water level. Glass does neither, and clear glass means you can check the level from across the room.
The trade-off is weight and breakage. A full 765ml glass bottle is heavy, so mount it on a solid bar rather than clipping it to flimsy mesh, and it will not survive being dropped on concrete the way a plastic one does.
Sizes
- 177ml — mice, rats and single small animals
- 355ml — guinea pigs and small rabbits
- 765ml — large rabbits, ferrets, or more than one animal
- Stainless steel drinking tube; mounts to the enclosure
Check the nozzle daily — a bottle that has stopped flowing looks exactly like a full one. Rinse and refill rather than topping up, and give it a proper clean weekly.
For food, the bamboo Luna Dish.
