A 5W LED black light at 395nm, the wavelength that makes scorpions fluoresce a bright blue-green. It is the only practical way to observe a nocturnal scorpion doing anything at all, because under white light most of them simply stop.
Features
- 5W LED at 395nm — the fluorescence wavelength.
- For night viewing — shows behaviour you cannot otherwise see.
- Fits the Creatures Dome Lamp Fixture.
Use it in sessions
Zoo Med's guidance is to use it periodically during night-time hours — not as continuous lighting. Nocturnal invertebrates are light-averse by nature, and a black light left running removes the darkness the animal is built around. Switch it on to watch, then switch it off.
