Alcott splits into two groups at PeekAPaw. The Adventure nylon range - a martingale collar, a 6ft lead and a three-buckle harness - is built around reflective stitching and black neoprene padding, and the three pieces are sized to match: small is 5/8" wide nylon, medium 3/4" and large 1", so a small collar and a small lead are the same width.
The other group is retractable leads, and what separates them is length. Wanderer is the compact model at 16ft. Adventure sits between the two and is designed to match the Adventure collars. Expedition runs 24ft and comes in large only, black or blue, for open ground rather than footpaths. All three use a flat belt rather than a cord.
Two things worth knowing before you choose. The Adventure collar is a martingale: clip the lead to the D-ring and the collar tightens as the dog pulls, so a dog that backs out of a flat collar cannot slip free. It sizes differently from a standard buckle collar, so check the neck measurement rather than the size name. And a retractable lead gives a dog a lot of line, which is useful in a park and awkward in traffic, so the shorter Wanderer suits city walking better than the 24ft Expedition.
