Choosing a cat wormer

If your cat refuses tablets, a spot-on is usually the easier option. Profender and the combination spot-ons are applied to the skin at the back of the neck, so there is nothing to hide in food.

Dose by weight. Kitten and small-cat bands differ from the adult bands, and Milbemax, Milpro and Bravecto Plus are each split by body weight, so weigh your cat first.

Check the worms listed on the pack. Combination spot-ons differ in whether they include tapeworm, which matters for cats that hunt or have had fleas. Where one product does not cover everything, your vet can suggest how to combine them. Ask your vet before worming a pregnant or unwell cat.
