Dog Omega Oils

Omega oils for dogs, poured over food to add omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Which oil to choose

The source matters. Fish, marine and algae oils supply EPA and DHA directly. Flaxseed and hemp oils supply plant omega-3, which dogs convert to EPA and DHA only in small amounts, so they are not a straight swap for fish oil if that is what your vet suggested.

Start with a small amount and build up to the label dose over a week or two. Adding a full dose at once is a common cause of loose stools.

Oils go rancid once opened, so buy a size you will finish and store it as the label says. If your dog is on medication or has a health condition, check with your vet before adding a supplement.
