Shop Dog Rocks at PeekAPaw in 200g and 600g — the original Australian answer to yellow burn patches on the lawn.
How they work
Dog Rocks are a naturally occurring paramagnetic igneous rock, mined in Australia. You rinse them and drop them straight into your dog's water bowl. They work on the water, not on the dog: the rock helps reduce nitrates and other impurities in the drinking water, which in turn lowers the nitrate load in your dog's urine — and it is that nitrate concentration that scorches grass. If you have been searching for a way to stop dog urine killing the grass without changing your dog's diet, these are rocks for the water bowl, not a supplement.
Before you buy
Two things worth knowing. First, nothing is added to your dog — no diet change, no dosing. Second, they take a couple of days to a week to start working, and existing burnt patches will not repair themselves; you are preventing new ones, not healing old ones. Reseed the damaged spots and let the rocks handle what comes next. They also need to be the only water source: a second untreated bowl, a pond or a pool undoes the effect.
Which size
A 200g pack treats one 2-litre bowl for around two months, after which the rocks are spent and need replacing rather than washing. The 600g bag holds three 200g measures — about six months for a single bowl, or two months across three.
