KONG balls for dogs
KONG makes several quite different balls, and they are not interchangeable. SqueakAir uses a felt cover that looks like a tennis ball but is deliberately non-abrasive, because real tennis-ball felt is coated in grit and wears teeth down over years of fetch. If your dog fetches daily, that difference matters more than anything else on this page.
The solid rubber balls are chew toys first. Ball with Hole and the Extreme ball shapes take a treat inside and can be stuffed and frozen, and the black Extreme versions suit dogs that flatten softer rubber. Squeezz balls are lighter, squeak loudly and bounce erratically, which suits dogs that lose interest in a predictable roll. Jumbler, Reflex and CoreStrength each solve a different problem, from a handle to grip to a shape that bounces sideways.
Sizing is a safety question rather than a preference. A ball that can pass behind the molars can lodge in the throat, and this happens to large dogs with standard tennis balls more often than most owners realise. Buy the size up if you are unsure, and replace any ball that has been punctured or chewed open.
