Milpro is Virbac's allwormer tablet for dogs and cats, combining milbemycin oxime and praziquantel. It treats and controls roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm, including hydatid tapeworm, and when given every month it also prevents heartworm.
Tablets are sold by body-weight band, and the dog and cat tablets are different strengths: the dog formulation is not suitable for cats. Milpro Dog 0.5-5kg contains 2.5mg milbemycin oxime and 25mg praziquantel, Milpro Dog 5-25kg 12.5mg and 125mg, Milpro Cat 0.5-2kg 4mg and 10mg, and Milpro Cat 2-8kg 16mg and 40mg. The tablets are small, oval and film-coated with liver flavouring, and can be hidden in food or given by hand. Milpro is for puppies from 2 weeks and kittens from 6 weeks of age, weighing at least 0.5kg.
Weigh your pet before choosing a pack. Virbac advises treating adult dogs and cats every 3 months for intestinal worms unless their lifestyle calls for a tailored programme, and giving Milpro every month, preferably on the same date, where it is used for heartworm prevention. Always follow the label on the pack, and ask your vet if you are unsure which band applies.
