Pet Teezer applies the two-tier bristle design from human detangling brushes to dog coats. The long bristles reach through to the undercoat while the short ones work the topcoat, so one pass does the job of two tools.
Choosing a brush — the De-Shedding brush is the workhorse for coats that drop, and comes in a small head for compact breeds and a large head for bigger dogs. The Puppy brush uses softer, more flexible bristles for a first coat and for dogs that flinch at grooming; it will not shift a heavy adult undercoat.
Bristles are flexible rather than rigid, so this is a comfortable brush but a slow one on a matted coat. Work knots out before brushing rather than trying to brush through them.
