ProBird is the aviary basics range — the things a breeder restocks rather than shops for. Egg and biscuit soft food for birds in breeding condition, in moult, or feeding chicks. Hand rearing mix for chicks off the nest. A nectar-style lorikeet mix in 1kg and 5kg. Fine shell grit for calcium and digestion, and pre-cut liner sheets so cleaning a cage tray takes seconds instead of minutes.
Two things worth getting right — first, made-up wet soft food is a bacterial culture medium, so mix small amounts and pull it out of the cage within a few hours, sooner in summer. Second, hand rearing is unforgiving of small mistakes: formula too cool causes crop stasis, too hot burns the crop, and too thin underfeeds a chick whose crop looks full. If you have not hand reared before, have a breeder or an avian vet walk you through the first few feeds.
Grit is offered free choice in a separate dish, not mixed into seed — birds regulate their own intake, and the fine grade matters because grit sized for poultry is wrong for a finch.
