Royal Canin Instinctive is the plain everyday wet food in the Royal Canin cat range — the one to choose when your cat has no particular problem to solve. Where Indoor, Sterilised, Hairball Care and Urinary Care each target a specific way of living, Instinctive is simply a complete feed for adult cats, formulated to match the macronutrient profile Royal Canin says adult cats instinctively prefer. If you have been working through the care lines trying to decide which one a healthy cat needs, this is the answer.

We stock three textures — thin slices in gravy, jelly and loaf — plus Instinctive 7+ gravy for cats over seven. The nutrition behind the three adult textures is the same; what differs is texture, and cats hold strong opinions about texture that owners routinely guess wrong. A cat that licks the gravy off and leaves the meat usually does better on loaf. A cat that eats around a loaf often prefers jelly. Buying one 85g x 12 box of each is a cheaper way to find out than committing to a 48-pouch carton first.
