Seresto collars release imidacloprid and flumethrin slowly from the collar matrix onto the skin and coat, so one collar covers a stretch of the season instead of a monthly reminder. Three collars cover cats and kittens, puppies and dogs up to 8kg, and dogs over 8kg.
Fitting it — two fingers should slide comfortably under the collar, then trim the excess. Fit it before flea season starts rather than in response to an infestation, and check the fit regularly on a growing puppy or kitten.
The collar is water resistant but frequent swimmers shorten its life; take it off before a long swim. Seresto does not prevent heartworm or treat intestinal worms, so a wormer is still needed.
