Transcat is the New Zealand-made pet door that most Australian glaziers already know how to fit. Three doors, and every wearing part available separately - which is the real argument for the brand, because a pet door usually fails one component at a time.
The doors all use a four-way lock: in only, out only, both ways, or shut. In only is what gets a cat home before dark. Locked is what you use when the cat is at the vet and you would rather the neighbour's cat stayed outside.
Choosing a size - the white cat door has a 140mm flap and suits a small cat; the clear cat door is 180mm and suits an average one; the clear dog door is 285mm and covers a medium dog or a large cat. Measure across the shoulders, not the head. A cat that gets its head through a flap that is too narrow will stick.
Spares - flap, frame, ring, hinge set, latch set and magnet are all sold individually in small-cat-door and large-dog-door versions. Match the part to the door you own, not to the animal using it. Glass installations need a glazier to cut the hole.
