Pick the version that matches your tank
The glass and acrylic scrapers are not interchangeable. API's instruction on the glass version is explicit: for glass aquariums only, not for acrylic, Plexiglas or any other surface. Acrylic is far softer than glass, and the pad that cleans glass properly will leave permanent scratches on it. If you are not certain which your tank is, use the acrylic version.
Using it
- Wet surfaces only — never drag the pad across dry glass
- Rinse the pad under the tap before and after each use
- If it picks up a piece of gravel, wash it off before carrying on; trapped gravel is what scratches a tank
- Do not lean on it — extreme pressure can crack acrylic
