A telescopic targeting stick with a 30mm soft foam ball on the end, used to lure a dog into position without putting your hands on them. It extends from 15cm collapsed to 70cm, so you can work a small dog at arm's length or keep a larger dog out of your feet. Like a clicker, it is a lure rather than a magic wand — the dog first has to be taught that touching the ball earns a reward, and the stick has to be faded out later or you end up with a dog that only works when it can see it.
The padded handle stays comfortable through a long session, and it collapses small enough to live in a pocket or a Train & Treat Bag. Pairs naturally with a marker — see the Multi-Clicker and the rest of the Coachi training range.
Features
- Telescopic 15cm to 70cm — collapses into a pocket or treat bag between sessions
- 30mm soft foam target — large and brightly coloured, so the dog can find it easily
- Padded handle — comfortable to hold for repeated repetitions
- Suits obedience and tricks — spins, weaves, positioning at heel, and getting on and off equipment
How to Use
- Teach the touch first: hold the ball near your dog's nose, mark and reward the moment they make contact.
- Once the touch is reliable, move the ball to lead the dog into the position you want and reward there.
- Fade the stick out gradually — shorten it, then swap to a hand signal, so the behaviour survives without it.
- Keep sessions short. Targeting is mentally demanding and most dogs do better with five focused minutes than twenty loose ones.
