The Cricket Feeding Rock is a dusting chamber and dispenser for feeder crickets — it is not a dish your reptile eats or drinks from. The routine is: tip ultra-fine calcium or vitamin powder into the deeper half, add 10 to 20 crickets depending on their size, close the two halves together, shake gently until the insects are coated, then set the rock in the terrarium and pull the plug so they walk out a few at a time. The powder that does not stick stays in the chamber for the next feed instead of ending up spread through the substrate. Exo Terra sells it as the Feeding Rock (PT2821).
The capacity is the honest limit: 10 to 20 crickets a load means it suits a gecko, a small skink or a juvenile dragon, not a colony feed or an adult monitor. It also only works with ultra-fine powders — coarse supplement will not coat and will just sit in the base. For mealworms, which need containing rather than dusting, use the Worm Dish Mealworm Feeder; for greens and pellets see the Feeding Dish. The rest of the range is in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- Dust and dispense in one — the crickets are coated inside the chamber and released from it, so there is no transfer step where they escape.
- Retains excess powder — supplement that does not stick stays in the chamber for the next feed rather than being lost to the substrate.
- Controlled release plug — crickets leave a few at a time, which encourages hunting instead of a swarm the animal ignores.
- Cleaner enclosure — vitamin residue does not build up across the substrate, where it draws mould in a humid build.
- Two-piece rock shell — opens fully for cleaning and looks like terrarium decor when it is sitting in place.
