The Worm Dish is a container for the feeder insects, not a dish for your reptile's water or greens. Mealworms climb, and the moment they reach the substrate they burrow and are gone — uneaten, unaccounted for, and eventually beetles. This dish has a lipped edge ring moulded around the inside of the rim that they cannot get over, so the worms stay in the bowl where the animal can see and hunt them. Exo Terra sells it as the Meal Worm Dish (PT2816). It is not a general food bowl: for greens, fruit and pellets use the Feeding Dish.
It splits into two parts for cleaning, which matters more than it sounds — the underside of the edge ring is exactly where old frass and dead worms collect. For crickets rather than worms, the Cricket Feeding Rock handles supplement dusting and controlled release. The rest of the range is in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- Escape-resistant edge ring — an inward-turned lip the worms cannot climb over, so live food stays where you put it.
- Two-part construction — pulls apart so the ring and the bowl can both be washed properly.
- Keeps supplement in the bowl — dusted worms shed powder into the dish rather than across the substrate, so less of it is wasted.
- Non-porous food-grade resin — smooth interior that does not hold bacteria or odour.
- Rock finish — a neutral exterior that matches the rest of the Exo Terra dish range.
Specifications
PT2816, one size. Shipping weight 360g. Exo Terra does not publish external dimensions or a worm capacity for this dish, so we have left those out. Works with mealworms and similar climbing larvae; crickets can jump out of an open dish regardless of the rim.
