The Faunarium is Exo Terra's all-purpose plastic box: a moulded tub with a ventilated lid and a hinged clear door for feeding. It earns its place as a second container rather than a first one — quarantine for a new animal, a carrier for the vet, a grow-on box for hatchlings, or somewhere to keep feeder insects. Because it has no glass, no lighting and nowhere to mount heating, it is not a long-term enclosure for anything that needs UVB or a basking spot.
Three sizes, and the step from Large to XXL is not simply bigger. Medium is 30 x 19.5 x 20.5cm, Large is 37 x 22 x 25cm, and XXL is 45 x 30 x 16cm — wider, but noticeably lower, at 16cm against the Large's 25cm. Pick XXL for floor space: a hatchling rack, a ground-dwelling species, a shallow tub of feeder insects. If you need height for something that climbs, Large is the taller box despite the name. The flat 36 x 21 x 13cm version is sold as the Desert Den Fauna Box, and the rest of the range is in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- Transparent door in the lid — drop food in or mist without removing the whole lid.
- Side-angled ventilation slits — airflow across the box, which stops humid air sitting still.
- Stackable — built to sit one on top of another for breeding and quarantine shelves.
- Easy to clean and disinfect — smooth plastic with no silicone seams for anything to hide in.
- Light enough to carry loaded — the practical reason it becomes the transport box.
