The Halogen Basking Spot is the efficiency option in Exo Terra's basking range — a halogen capsule inside a neodymium reflector, so more of the wattage ends up as usable light and infrared-A heat in the beam. The neodymium glass filters out the yellow cast an ordinary incandescent puts over a terrarium, so an animal's colour reads closer to true. Because Exo Terra rates it as high-efficiency with increased infrared output, a 50W halogen can drive a basking spot harder than a 50W standard bulb — size it down rather than up. It carries no UVB.

As a starting point, 50W suits a 45cm enclosure or a warm room and 100W a 60cm or larger one, but the deciding factors are enclosure volume, the room's overnight low and your species' target basking temperature — set the final choice by thermometer readings taken at the basking surface, not at the glass.
Safety
Run any basking lamp through a thermostat or dimmer. Straight into a wall socket it delivers full output no matter how warm the room already is, which is how animals get contact burns and enclosures overheat. Mount it outside the mesh or behind a guard.
