The Jungle Vine is a bendable, twistable artificial vine for arboreal species — you shape it into a climbing route rather than mounting it in a fixed position, which is the whole point. Run it from the substrate up to a basking branch and a gecko or a small arboreal snake gains a whole additional storey of usable space in an enclosure whose floor area has not changed. Two things to know before you buy: it is decorative rather than structural, so it will not carry the weight of a large lizard on its own, and being waterproof rather than absorbent it does nothing for terrarium humidity.
Two thicknesses, and the numbers in the variant names measure the vine, not the terrarium: Small is 10mm across and Large 15mm across, both roughly 180cm long. Exo Terra's specification gives 1 x 1 x 182cm (PT3085) and 1.5 x 1.5 x 182cm (PT3086) — the same items, with the length rounded differently by our supplier. Vines of different thicknesses can be twisted together to build a three-dimensional structure. The Bendable Moss Vine is the same format with a moss-textured surface; add hanging cover with a Forest Plant Croton, and the rest of the range is in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- Bends and holds shape — position it once and it stays, including in corners a rigid branch cannot reach.
- Expands usable space — turns the vertical volume of a tall terrarium into surface an arboreal animal will actually use.
- Waterproof — suited to humid tropical set-ups and to daily misting.
- Combines with other vines — twist several together, in mixed thicknesses, to build a three-dimensional network.
- Non-toxic — safe for reptiles and amphibians in a closed enclosure.
