The Saguaro is the upright column of Exo Terra's desert plant range — the one that adds vertical interest to an arid terrarium instead of ground cover. Being a replica, it asks nothing of the enclosure: no light, no water, no root space, and no dieback under a basking lamp. It is worth being clear about what that costs you, though. Replica plants take no part in the humidity cycle, produce no oxygen and never grow in, so an enclosure furnished entirely with them stays exactly as you built it. What they do that live plants cannot is survive digging, climbing and direct UVB indefinitely.
One size, 16cm tall, item code PT2981. Exo Terra publishes no base diameter or spread for its plant range, so height is the only figure we can quote. It sits with the Barrel Cactus at ground level, the Star Cactus and the Finger Cactus in the same desert palette, and the rest of the range is in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- Vertical accent — breaks up the tallest empty part of a desert terrarium, where most decor sits on the floor.
- Nothing to maintain — no watering, no feeding, no pruning, no replacing after a hot spell.
- UVB and heat tolerant — sits under a basking lamp without scorching or bleaching back.
- Rinses clean — rinse under water when it is soiled and return it to the enclosure.
- Quarantine safe — usable in the bare, disinfectable set-ups where live plants are not an option.
