Wax-bound bait blocks for rats and mice, based on the anticoagulant difethialone. The wax binder is the point: blocks tolerate damp, humidity and outdoor placements far better than loose grain or pellets, and the block can be threaded onto the rod inside a bait station so it cannot be carried away. That last part is the real safety difference — a secured block is much harder for a rodent to move somewhere a dog can find it.
Available in 1.2kg and 7.5kg. Where rodents take bait faster in a dry indoor situation, see Generation Blue Soft Bait. Compare with Bromakil and Racumin. Part of the Generation range.
Key points
- Wax bound — Holds up in damp, humid and outdoor placements.
- Can be secured — Thread onto a bait station rod so blocks cannot be carried off.
- Two sizes — 1.2kg and 7.5kg.
- Slower uptake indoors — In a dry shed a soft bait is usually taken faster.
Safety
This is a rodenticide. Difethialone is an anticoagulant and is dangerous to dogs, cats, poultry, livestock and native wildlife if eaten, and it also poses a secondary poisoning risk to any animal or bird that eats a poisoned rodent. Place bait only in locked or tamper-resistant stations, or in positions genuinely inaccessible to pets, stock, children and non-target wildlife. Collect and dispose of dead rodents promptly. Wear gloves when handling bait. Vitamin K1 is the antidote: if a pet or a person may have eaten bait, contact a vet or the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 immediately and take the label with you. Read the label in full before use.
