Hydor's Wi-Fi controllable wavemaker pumps, in two body sizes. A wavemaker is not about raw flow — it is about breaking up the dead spots a return pump leaves, so detritus stays in suspension long enough for the filter to catch it and corals get flow from more than one direction. Wi-Fi control adds the part people actually use day to day: a feed mode you can trigger from a phone, and pattern changes without getting your arm wet.
Two models: KPS is the smaller body for nano and mid-size tanks, KPM the larger for bigger display tanks. Size on tank volume and rockwork density rather than turnover alone — an oversized wavemaker in a shallow tank will blast sand across the aquascape. Impellers are the wear part; see Hydor for the rest of the range.
Features
- Wi-Fi control — flow patterns, intensity and feed mode from a phone.
- Two sizes — KPS for nano and mid-size, KPM for larger display tanks.
- Marine and freshwater — suits reef and planted tanks alike.
- Magnet mount — positions anywhere on the glass.
Care
Strip and soak the impeller in a vinegar solution periodically; calcium build-up on the shaft is the usual cause of noise and lost flow in a marine tank.
