bioCarb is a carbon-impregnated sponge that sits in the upper Bioflow insert and takes out odour compounds, turbidity and leftover medication. It is the maintenance-grade chemical stage — it runs all the time, unlike Carbax which you fit only when you need it.
Know what it is not. This is a carbon sponge, not bulk carbon. It has far less adsorptive capacity than a dedicated cartridge like Carbax, so treat it as a polisher that keeps water clear rather than something that will strip a heavy dose of medication.

Replacement
Juwel's manual gives every four to six weeks; the product page says monthly. Either way it is a monthly-ish consumable.
