The Eccoflow is the circulation pump that drives a Juwel Bioflow internal filter — it pulls water from the upper and lower layers of the tank through the media and returns it. Buy one to replace a failed or permanently noisy pump, or to step up flow on an existing filter. Juwel sizes the pump at two to three times the tank volume per hour.
Before you replace a noisy pump, check the impeller. Juwel's own guidance is that noise usually comes from the six to eight week run-in period or from worn wear-parts, and that the impeller, axle and rubber bearings should be changed at about 12 months. An impeller set is a fraction of the cost of a pump.
Choosing a size
- 300 l/h, 4.4W — Bioflow One and Super: Primo 60 / 70 LED 2.0
- 500 l/h, 5.5W — Bioflow Super: Primo 110 LED 2.0
- 600 l/h, 7W — Bioflow M: Rio 125 / 180 / 240, Lido 120 / 200 LED, Trigon 190 LED, Vision 180 LED
- 1000 l/h, 8W — Bioflow L and XL: Rio 350 / 450 LED, Vision 260 / 450 LED, Trigon 350 LED
- 1500 l/h, 24W — Bioflow L and XL only
The one hard restriction: the 1500 physically fits only the Bioflow L and XL. If your tank runs a Bioflow M — a Rio 180 or a Lido 120, for example — a 1500 will not go in, whatever flow figure you were after. It also draws 24W against 8W for the 1000, so it is three times the running cost for fifty per cent more flow.
Otherwise the pumps are interchangeable across the filter range, so you can move up or down a size within your filter to suit your stocking.
