Forage should be the bulk of a rabbit's or guinea pig's diet and available all day — constant chewing is what keeps their teeth worn down. Cubes are convenient and store well, but they do not give the same long-strand pulling and shredding as loose hay, so most keepers use cubes alongside loose hay rather than instead of it.
Lucerne is high in calcium and protein: good for growing or underweight animals, too rich as an everyday hay for a healthy adult rabbit. For daily feeding, Pasture Hay Cubes are the milder choice.
