Vet's Best Dental Powder for Cats is a daily food topper for the very large number of cats that will never tolerate having their teeth touched. The active is brown seaweed (Ascophyllum nodosum) with spirulina, carried in brewer's yeast; it reaches the mouth through saliva and helps make plaque less able to bind to the tooth surface. Give it several weeks before deciding whether it is working, and be realistic about the limit — it acts on plaque as it forms, so existing tartar, red gums or a cat that has stopped chewing on one side need a vet, not a powder.
Supplied as a 45g tub with a measuring scoop. The dog version is Vet's Best Dental Powder for Dogs in a 90g tub.
Benefits
- Brush-free — nothing has to go near the cat's mouth, which is the only practical option for most cats.
- Brown seaweed and spirulina — acts through saliva rather than by abrasion.
- Brewer's yeast base — savoury enough to disappear into wet food unnoticed.
- No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
Ingredients
Brown seaweed (Ascophyllum nodosum), spirulina algae, brewer's yeast.
Feeding Guide
Sprinkle the daily scoop over food, following the guide on the pack. Fresh water at all times. Kelp is naturally high in iodine, so check with your vet before using it in a cat with hyperthyroidism — a common condition in older cats.
