Green Valley Grains is a family-owned mill at Beaconsfield in Victoria, cleaning and blending Australian-grown grain into bird seed, poultry rations, straight grains and small animal food. The feeds are plant based, animal-product free and medication free, and most of the mixes carry a live multistrain probiotic added at the mill.
The range splits four ways: caged and aviary bird seed (budgie, canary, finch, parrot, small parrot, wild bird and five pigeon blends), the Open Range poultry line (scratch mixes, layer mixes, a layer pellet, chick mash and crumbles, plus shell grit), straight grains and seeds in 20kg bags for horses, stock and birds, and Green Valley Naturals hay and bedding for rabbits and guinea pigs.
Choosing between them — a grain mix and a fortified ration are not the same thing. Hens in full lay need the Open Range Premium Layer Mix or the layer pellet to hold shell quality; the plain Poultry Mix is a scratch feed to go alongside it, not instead of it. For rabbits and guinea pigs, the pelleted feed stops selective feeding, but neither the pellet nor the muesli mix replaces unlimited grass hay. And a single straight seed — sunflower, safflower, millet, canary — is an ingredient, not a diet.
Bag sizes run from 2kg up to 20kg. The 20kg bags are bulk feed-shed quantities, not something to buy for one budgie.
