Hill's Science Diet Healthy Mobility is the joint-support line in the Science Diet adult dog range. We stock all three recipes: the standard Adult kibble, Adult Healthy Mobility Large Breed, and Adult Healthy Mobility Small Bites for dogs that prefer a smaller piece.

The important point is that this is everyday dog food, not a supplement. You feed it as your dog's complete daily diet in place of their current adult food, rather than adding it on top. That makes it a different decision from a joint chew or a powder - it replaces the bag you already buy, so it needs to suit your dog's size, appetite and the rest of their needs as well.

What is in it: Hill's includes natural sources of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate, which are building blocks of cartilage, plus EPA - an omega-3 fatty acid from fish oil - and a balanced mineral profile for bone. It is a mobility-focused adult maintenance food, not a treatment. If your dog is limping, stiff after rest, or reluctant on stairs, see your vet first; food is a sensible part of a plan but it is not a diagnosis, and Hill's also makes a vet-prescribed joint diet that we do not stock.

Choosing between the three is mostly about kibble size and dog size. Large Breed is formulated for bigger dogs and is the right pick if your dog is over 25kg. Small Bites is the same style of recipe in a smaller kibble, which suits small dogs and also dogs that eat too fast or have lost teeth. The standard Adult recipe covers everything in between.

Introduce any new food gradually over about a week, mixing an increasing proportion into the old food, to give the gut time to adjust.
