Hill's Science Diet Sensitive Stomach & Skin covers eleven recipes for dogs and cats whose digestion or coat needs a gentler everyday formula. The range runs from puppy and kitten through to adult, across dry, wet, mousse and pouches, so you can usually stay inside it as your pet grows.

Dogs get four dry size branches: the standard adult recipe, Small & Mini, Small Bites and Large Breed. Choose on kibble size and jaw rather than on the label — a small dog will often eat more willingly from Small Bites than from a standard kibble. Wet options are an adult tin, a Small & Mini turkey mousse and a puppy salmon and vegetable stew, each of which works as a full meal or mixed through dry food to lift moisture.

For cats there is an adult dry recipe, a kitten salmon and brown rice dry food, and a pouch variety pack. The kitten formula is the one people miss: a kitten with a delicate stomach does not have to be pushed onto an adult sensitive recipe early.

The formula works on two fronts at once. Beet pulp, a prebiotic fibre, does the digestive work; vitamin E and omega-6 fatty acids do the work on skin and coat. Because both sit in the same bag, this range suits the very common pet with loose faeces and a dull, itchy coat at the same time.
