Choosing a joint supplement

Formats differ. Powders and granules go into the feed, pellets suit fussy eaters that sort powder out of their feed, and gels and pastes are dosed directly by mouth.

Give it time. Joint supplements are fed daily and assessed over weeks, not days, so pick one and stay with it long enough to judge.

If you compete, check the ingredients against the rules for your discipline before feeding, and allow for any withholding period.

A supplement does not replace a vet check. Sudden lameness, heat or swelling in a joint needs a vet first.
