Poseidon Animal Health is an Australian company built around gut health. The horse range runs from everyday digestive support through to metabolic and toxin-binding formulas, and the K9 side applies the same thinking to dogs. Almost everything here is a powder or chew fed daily in the feed, with Stress Paste the exception — an oral syringe for the day of the event rather than the weeks before it.
Choosing between the three horse gut products. This is where most people get stuck, because the names do not tell you much. Daily Balance is a vitamin and mineral balancer — it fills nutrient gaps in a forage diet and is the right product if the horse is basically well but the diet is thin. Digestive EQ is the gut supplement for pleasure horses and horses in light to moderate work, and it is the one to reach for when the signs are digestive: soft manure, recurring colic, spooky behaviour. Digestive HP is the same base built stronger — more buffering, more postbiotics, an extra amino acid — and is aimed at horses in hard competition work or recovering from a real setback. Feeding EQ and HP together achieves nothing; pick one.
MetaboLize and EquiBind solve narrower problems — metabolic support for EMS and PPID horses, and mycotoxin binding for horses on stored feed or suspect pasture. Neither replaces a balancer, so a horse on either usually needs Daily Balance underneath.
On the dog side, the Digestive K9 Powder and Digestive K9 Chews are the same BIO-K9 formula in two forms — the powder doses more precisely and works out cheaper for a large dog, the chews win with fussy eaters. Stress K9 Chews are a separate, as-needed calming chew rather than a daily supplement.
These are supplements, not medicines. If a horse has diagnosed gastric ulcers or laminitis, or a dog has severe separation anxiety, talk to your vet about what to feed alongside treatment.
