ZamiPet Dog Supplements

ZamiPet is an Australian owned and made range of dog supplements, formulated by veterinarians and built around one practical idea: the dose has to be easy to get into the dog. Everything in the range is either a breakable clover-shaped chew or a single-serve powder sachet, and picking between those two formats is the first decision worth making.

The chews cover most of the range. They break cleanly along the clover shape, so a 4kg terrier and a 40kg Labrador can both be dosed out of the same pack without crumbling a tablet, and the larger packs work out to be the ones you want for a long course. Most are built on Australian sourced chicken. The exception is Urinary Support, which uses Australian sourced salmon meal, and that makes it the one to look at for a dog that reacts to chicken.

The sachets are the High Strength Probiotics+ line. Each 1.2g single serve carries live probiotic strains, a postbiotic and the prebiotic inulin, already measured and ready to stir through a meal. Choose a sachet over a chew when your dog spits chews out, or when you want a fixed dose with nothing to break or weigh.

Two things catch people out. First, Complete Care Multi contains inulin, which is a prebiotic, not live probiotic strains, so if live cultures are what you are after the Probiotics+ sachets are the product that carries them. Second, joint supplements are slow by nature: give Joint Protect six to eight weeks before deciding whether it is working, and buy a pack size that covers that period, because a 150g pack does not last a large dog long. The same patience applies to skin, where several weeks of daily feeding is normal before you can judge a difference.

These are supplements, not treatments. Sudden lameness, straining to urinate, blood in the urine, diarrhoea running past a day or two, or anxiety that keeps escalating are all reasons to see your vet rather than reach for a chew.
