The Frog Pond is the amphibian version of the water dish. It is a shallow pebble-finish basin designed to be semi-recessed into the substrate so the rim sits close to flush, which mimics the edge of a pool rather than a bowl dropped into a tank. That matters because frogs take up water through their skin rather than drinking it — they need to sit in the water, and the shallow depth plus the integrated steps is what makes sitting in it safe. Exo Terra lists it for poison dart frogs and tree frogs. It is not a soaking bowl for snakes and it is not deep enough to swim in.

Two sizes: Small 15 x 12.5 x 5.5cm holding 75ml, and Large 17 x 13.5 x 6cm holding 110ml. Recessing it means digging out a shallow depression first, so plan for a substrate layer deep enough to take it. For a plain terrarium bowl that sits on top of the substrate see the Water Dish; for a deep bowl an animal can fully submerge in see the Pebble Snake Water Dish. The rest of the range is in our Exo Terra collection.

Features

  • Semi-recessed design — sinks into the substrate so an animal walks in at ground level instead of climbing a rim.
  • Integrated steps — a graded floor that keeps the water shallow at the edge, which is the drowning safeguard for small amphibians.
  • Pebble-rock finish — reads as a natural riparian edge in a planted or bioactive build.
  • Food-grade resin — non-porous and smooth inside, so it does not soak up tannins or harbour bacteria.
  • Lift-out cleaning — small enough to pull, rinse and reset without disturbing the planting around it.
