The middle grade of Exo Terra's T5 Very High Output UVB range: 7% UVB, matched to Ferguson Zone 2 — species that bask occasionally or in partial, dappled sun rather than out in the open all day. That covers a large share of commonly kept lizards and chelonians. Pick by the animal's basking behaviour, not by terrarium size: a shade dweller is better served by the UVB100 at 3%, and a full desert basker by the UVB300 at 14%. It produces UVB and light but effectively no heat.
Four sizes: 8W at 30cm, 24W at 60cm, 39W at 90cm and 54W at 120cm. The tube length has to match the fixture, so measure before ordering. Exo Terra designs these bulbs around its T5 High Performance UVB fixture, where the polished reflector pushes far more of the output down to the animal; mounting clips and an interconnection cable are available for it. The T5 grades run on a different scale from the T8 and compact tiers, so a T5 UVB200 is not interchangeable with a UVB200 T8 tube. More in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- 7% UVB, Ferguson Zone 2 — the mesophotic tier, for partial-sun and occasional baskers.
- Very High Output T5 — more UVA and UVB than a T8 tube of the same length.
- German-made phosphor blend — Exo Terra's Sunergy blend, designed to replicate the solar UVB spectrum.
- 12+ months of useful UV output — longer service life than a typical compact fluorescent.
- Superior penetration — reaches the animal in tall terrariums where a T8 tube would not.
- Four lengths — 30cm to 120cm, with the longer bulbs able to serve more than one terrarium.
