Brewers yeast is the old-fashioned way to add B-group vitamins and a savoury smell to a feed. It is most useful for horses that are picky, horses coming back into work, and anything on a high-grain ration where hindgut fermentation is under pressure.
Available in 1kg, 2kg and 5kg.
It is inactive yeast, not a live probiotic - if you want live organisms you need a product that states a viable count. It is also strongly flavoured, so introduce it over a week rather than putting a full dose in on day one.
Typical uses
- Palatability - a small amount makes medicated or plain feeds acceptable again
- B-group vitamins - useful for horses off pasture or on preserved feed
- Dogs and poultry - fed at much smaller rates than horses
Feeding
Feeding rates differ by species and bodyweight and are set on the pack. Follow the rate on the bag and introduce gradually. Store sealed and dry - yeast picks up moisture and cakes.
