Potassium citrate supplies potassium in a citrate rather than chloride form, which makes it alkalinising instead of acidifying. That is the reason people choose it over potassium chloride in blends where the acid-base direction matters.

This is a straight raw ingredient for people who already know why they want it. It is not a general tonic and it is not interchangeable with potassium chloride in an electrolyte formula - swapping one for the other changes what the mix does. If you are not working to a formulation from a vet or nutritionist, a finished product is the better buy.
Notes
- Store sealed and dry - citrate salts are hygroscopic and cake readily
