Beefmaster is a magnesium block for the grass tetany window — lush, fast-growing winter and spring pasture, where magnesium availability drops just as lactating cows need it most. Tetany kills quickly and often without warning, so this is a preventive fed ahead of the risk period, not a treatment.
Timing is the whole thing. Start the block before the pasture flush and before calving, not after the first case. Blocks are also self-fed, so intake varies between animals — in a high-risk mob many producers use a dusted hay or a drench as well.
Feeding & Use
Introduce ahead of the tetany risk period. Place where stock camp or water, under cover where possible, and provide enough blocks for the mob. Always provide clean, fresh water.
