Amazon Jungle Artificial Aquarium Plants & Ornaments
Amazon Jungle makes artificial plants and ornaments for freshwater aquariums, distributed in Australia by Pet Pacific. The range runs from 10cm foreground pieces to 50cm XL background plants, plus a small ornament line — glow-in-the-dark jellyfish and a lotus garden.
Three groups are worth knowing apart. Mounted plants (on Log, on Rock, Covered Pad) come on a moulded base, so they sit on the substrate without planting and can be moved without disturbing the bed. Free-standing trees and ferns run 25–50cm and are background pieces. Single stems from the Plant Display line are sold individually in 10-12cm and 15cm, which is the cheapest way to build up a planted look gradually.
Choosing a size — measure the internal height of your tank from substrate to the underside of the lid, not the external dimensions. The 45–50cm XL pieces (Broad Fern, Butterfly Palm, Apple Leaf, Philo Bush, Ficus Lyrata, Caladium) need roughly 50cm of depth or the tops bend over at the waterline. For a nano or shrimp tank, stay with the 10–18cm pieces — anything taller takes over the whole scape.
Weight matters more than you would think. The lighter plants (35–125g) will lean or shift if you seat them directly in front of a filter outlet. Either bed the base into gravel or place them out of the main flow. The heavier pieces — Giant Cardamine Tree at 785g, Giant Monsterio 25cm at 615g — hold position anywhere.
One honest limitation: artificial plants do not take up nitrate or oxygenate the water the way live plants do. They give you structure, shade and cover on day one with no lighting, CO2, fertiliser or trimming, and herbivorous fish will not eat them — but your filter and water changes still do all the work on water quality.
