NexGard Spectra for Dogs

The dog half of the NexGard Spectra range: a beef-flavoured chew given once a month, in five weight bands. Given monthly it rapidly kills fleas, treats and controls ticks, mange and mites, and treats and controls biting lice. Given monthly throughout the year it provides effective heartworm prevention, and it treats and controls roundworm, hookworm and whipworm.

The bands are exact and adjacent - 1.35-3.5kg (Orange), 3.6-7.5kg (Yellow), 7.6-15kg (Green), 15.1-30kg (Purple), 30.1-60kg (Red) - so weigh the dog rather than eyeballing it. Puppies start from 8 weeks of age and 1.35kg. The chew can be given with or without food and is not affected by bathing, swimming or shampooing. It prevents new flea tapeworm infestations through flea control; an existing flea tapeworm infestation needs a product registered to treat it, such as ParaGard Allwormer for Dogs. To minimise the risk of tick paralysis, daily searching and removal of ticks is still required.
