Day Glo is Exo Terra's everyday daytime bulb — a broad-spectrum daylight lamp in a neodymium sleeve that lights the terrarium, lifts the ambient air temperature and carries a UVA component. It is the general daylight and warmth layer rather than a spot: the light spreads through the enclosure instead of concentrating into a tight beam, which suits a planted setup or a species that wants a warm room more than a scorching rock. It produces no UVB, and if your animal needs a defined hot spot the Intense Basking Spot is the better tool for that job.
Four wattages — 25W, 60W, 100W and 150W. Close the 24-hour cycle with Night Glo or Heat Glo after dark, and add UVB with the Reptile UVB100 T8 Tube. The rest of the range is in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- Broad-spectrum daylight — a neodymium sleeve over a daylight spectrum, so colour in the animal and the planting reads closer to natural.
- Supports live planting — Exo Terra states the spectrum supports plant photosynthesis, which matters in a bioactive or planted terrarium.
- Raises ambient temperature — builds the warm end of a gradient so the animal can thermoregulate by moving.
- UVA output — Exo Terra credits the UVA with stimulating activity and breeding behaviour.
- Infrared-A heat — penetrating warmth that Exo Terra links to digestion, blood flow and cellular regeneration.
Specifications
25W (PT2102) · 60W (PT2110) · 100W (PT2112) · 150W (PT2114). Shipping weights 45g to 65g. Wattage follows enclosure volume, room temperature and the target warm-end temperature rather than a fixed rule — as a starting point 25W suits a nano or 30cm enclosure, 60W a 45cm one, 100W a 60cm one and 150W a 90cm enclosure or a cold room, then adjust after taking thermometer readings at both ends of the enclosure.
Safety
Run it through a thermostat or dimmer. An unregulated heat lamp puts out the same heat on a 35°C day as it does on a cold night, which is how enclosures overheat and animals get burnt. Keep the bulb outside the mesh or behind a guard.
