Night Glo is the moonlight lamp — blue glass that gives you just enough light to watch nocturnal geckos, snakes and frogs after dark without resetting their day and night cycle. It puts out a small amount of heat, enough to hold a tropical night temperature, and deliberately not enough to erase the overnight drop most species need. Two honest limits: through a cold winter a 25W or 40W Night Glo is not a heating solution on its own, and many keepers now prefer full darkness at night — if you only need warmth, a Ceramic Heat Emitter provides it with no light at all.
Five wattages — 25W, 40W, 50W, 75W and 100W. Run it opposite a Day Glo on the daytime side of the timer, or use Heat Glo if you want more night heat than light. The rest of the range is in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- Blue moonlight glass — simulates moonlight so you can observe nocturnal species without a torch.
- Does not disturb the day and night cycle — low enough output that the animal keeps its normal rhythm.
- Encourages nocturnal behaviour — species that hide under bright light will come out and feed under it.
- Holds tropical night temperatures — gentle warmth that still allows the natural temperature drop after dark.
- Infrared-A heat — Exo Terra links the penetrating warmth to circulation, digestion and healing.
Specifications
25W (PT2122) · 40W (PT2124) · 50W (PT2126) · 75W (PT2130) · 100W (PT2058). Shipping weights 40g to 63g. Because the point of the lamp is a small, controlled lift rather than a proper hot spot, size it to the room rather than the enclosure: 25–40W where nights stay mild, 75–100W in a larger enclosure or a cold room. Confirm with a thermometer that the night-time low still falls to the range your species needs.
Safety
Use a thermostat or dimmer — a night lamp left unregulated in a warm room removes the temperature drop it was chosen to preserve. Keep the bulb outside the mesh or behind a guard so a climbing animal cannot rest against the glass.
