A clamp lamp built around a heat-resistant porcelain socket, so it takes the bulbs that melt a standard plastic-socket fixture — ceramic heat emitters, self-ballasted mercury vapour lamps and ordinary incandescent basking globes. The open wire guard lets heat escape instead of trapping it around the base of the bulb. It has no reflector, so if you are running a UVB or plant bulb and want the output pushed down into the terrarium rather than scattered around the room, a Light Dome is the better fixture.
Two sizes. Exo Terra rates the porcelain socket for bulbs up to 150W and lists the fixture itself at 250W. It pairs with the Exo Terra Light Bracket for suspending the lamp above a glass terrarium — the adhesive support base is the replacement pad for that bracket. Suitable bulbs include the Ceramic Heat Emitter, Solar Glo and Heat Glo Infrared lamps, and the rest of the range sits in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- Heat-resistant porcelain socket — handles the sustained temperatures of ceramic emitters and mercury vapour bulbs that would damage a plastic socket.
- Open wire guard — prevents heat building up around the lamp base and keeps fingers and animals off the hot glass.
- Spring clamp — grips a shelf edge, stand or terrarium frame without tools.
- Meets safety regulations with Heat Wave lamps — Exo Terra specifies this fixture for use with its ceramic heat emitters.
- Light Bracket compatible — can be suspended above a glass terrarium rather than clamped.
