Cover is a husbandry requirement, not a decorating choice — a reptile that cannot get out of sight stays keyed up, eats less and sheds badly, and the standard remedy is a hide at the cool end and another over the warm end so it never has to pick one over the other. The Primate Skull is the tall one in Exo Terra's skull range: a rounded braincase that gives more internal headroom for its footprint than any of the other three, with the eye sockets and the base of the skull acting as entrances.
Two sizes. The Small (PT2926) is genuinely small at 8.6 x 10.6 x 8cm — sized for hatchlings, dart frogs and small geckos rather than an adult lizard — while the Large (PT2855) is the original full-size casting. The dome shape suits animals that sit up rather than lie flat; for a low-slung animal the Buffalo Skull is the flatter option, and the T-Rex Skull is the narrow tunnel. It holds no water, so keep a water dish in the enclosure. Whole range in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- Domed interior — the most vertical clearance of the four skull hides at a given footprint.
- Multiple entrances — eye sockets and an open base, so the animal is never cornered inside.
- Takes damp moss — makes a humid retreat for shedding or as a lay site.
- Two very different sizes — the Small is a hatchling or amphibian hide; the Large works for adult geckos and small lizards.
- Non-porous resin — rated by Exo Terra for desert, rainforest and aquatic setups.
