The desert tier of Exo Terra's compact UVB range. Exo Terra describes the output as similar to sunlight in deserts and rates it as effective up to 50cm (20"), which is why it is the one recommended for terrariums with a dense screen cover — mesh absorbs a lot of UVB. Same caveat as every fluorescent UVB bulb: it emits UVB and visible light, not heat. A bearded dragon or uromastyx still needs a separate basking lamp over the warm end.

Two wattages, 13W and 25W, self-ballasted with a screw base. Tropical species are better served by the Reptile UVB100; if you need more penetration again, the Reptile UVB200 is the very-high-UV tier. Run it with the Natural Light for visible light, in a Light Dome or Compact Top, and add heat with the Intense Basking Spot. More in our Exo Terra collection.

Features

  • Desert UVB spectrum — high output aimed at diurnal, open-basking species from arid habitats.
  • Effective up to 50cm — longer working distance than the UVB100, so it copes with taller terrariums.
  • Recommended for dense screen covers — Exo Terra names this bulb where mesh sits between the lamp and the animal.
  • Very high D3 conversion — supports calcium metabolism and helps prevent metabolic bone disease.
  • Self-ballasted screw base — drops into any standard socket.

Specifications

13W and 25W. Effective up to 50cm (20"). Compact fluorescent, self-ballasted, screw base. Shipping weights 0.10kg (13W) and 0.14kg (25W). Exo Terra states a tropical / desert / very-high-UV tier for this range rather than a published UVB percentage. Replace yearly — UV output falls long before the bulb stops lighting.
