The desert tier of Exo Terra's linear UVB range, with output the manufacturer describes as similar to sunlight in deserts. It is the tube Exo Terra specifically recommends for terrariums with a dense screen cover, because mesh absorbs a large share of the UVB that passes through it. Suits bearded dragons, uromastyx and other open-basking arid species. As with every UVB fluorescent tube, it emits UVB and light but effectively no heat — the basking temperature has to come from a separate lamp.
Five sizes, and wattage and length go together: 15W is 45cm, 18W is 60cm, 25W is 75cm, 30W is 90cm and 36W is 120cm. Measure the inside of your existing fixture before ordering — a T8 tube only fits the length it was made for. Tropical and rainforest species should use the Reptile UVB100 tube instead; if you need more penetration than this, the UVB200 tube is the very-high-UV tier. Add the Natural Light tube for visible light and an Intense Basking Spot for heat. The screw-in equivalent is the UVB150 compact bulb. More in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- Desert-grade UVB output — aimed at diurnal species that bask in the open.
- Recommended for dense screen covers — Exo Terra names this tier where mesh sits between the tube and the animal.
- Very high D3 conversion — supports calcium metabolism and helps prevent metabolic bone disease.
- Full-length coverage — a linear tube gives the animal a gradient of exposure to move through.
- Five lengths — fits standard T8 hoods from 45cm to 120cm.
