A visible-light bulb whose spectrum peaks in the wavelengths reptiles actually see — their eyes carry four colour receptors where ours carry three, so a lamp built for human vision is not the same thing as a lamp built for theirs. Exo Terra's claim is better perception of the environment, and more appetite and breeding behaviour as a result. Two honest points: it emits no useful UVB and no basking heat, and Exo Terra has discontinued the line, so what is in stock is what remains.

One wattage, 13W, self-ballasted with a screw base. It is a companion lamp, not a standalone: run it with the Reptile UVB100 or UVB150 for UVB and a basking lamp for heat. If you would rather buy a lamp Exo Terra still supports, the Natural Light covers the same visible-light role at 6700K. Fits the Light Dome and Compact Top. More in our Exo Terra collection.

Features

  • Tuned to reptile vision — the spectrum peaks in wavelengths adapted to the four-receptor reptile eye.
  • Stimulates appetite and breeding — Exo Terra's stated behavioural benefit of correct visible light.
  • Improves perception of the enclosure — useful in a densely planted terrarium where the animal needs to judge distance.
  • Self-ballasted screw base — fits any standard socket, no ballast needed.
  • Low heat — will not disturb a carefully set thermal gradient.

Specifications

13W. Compact fluorescent, self-ballasted, screw base. Shipping weight 0.10kg. Exo Terra does not publish a colour temperature or CRI for this lamp and has marked it discontinued, so no figures are quoted here. Pet-care bulb for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates only.
